Hammel, John F.John F. Hammel, 57, formerly of Northampton passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2014 in North Vista Hospital, Las Vegas, Nevada. Born February 5, 1957 in Allentown, he was the son of the late Alfred Hammel and Anna (Burker) Hammel of Northampton. He was a construction worker. John honorably served in the United States Navy. He was a 1975 graduate of Northampton High School, where he played baseball and basketball. Survivors: Besides his mother, brothers, Alfred Hammel and his wife Jeannette, of Glen Falls, New York, Stephen Hammel, of Northampton, Anthony Hammel and his wife Patricia, of Saratoga Springs, New York; 4 nephews; 3 great nephews; and 1 great niece along with several aunts, uncles and cousins. John was predeceased by a brother, James Hammel. Services: A Burial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 10 at 10:30 a.m. in the Queenship of Mary Church 1324 Newport Ave. Northampton.
